Lecture by Sergio Estella from Vizzuality

6 p.m.
ELISAVA (La Rambla, 30-32). Sala Aleix Carrió (1st floor)

Sergio Estella, co-founder of Vizzuality, Spanish data visualization firm with international impact and offices in Spain, United Kingdom, United States and Portugal, visits ELISAVA to offer the lecture 'Long Lasting Design'.

In his masterclass, Estella will bring us closer to the Vizzuality philosophy and will tell us how a design and technology company has taken the opportunity to work on what they liked, as well as helping NGOs, Governments and Scientists to improve the current and future situation of the Planet. His work focuses on designing and creating platforms that allow users to make better use of the data that is created massively at every moment, either from mobile phones or using social networks, IOT or satellites, among other devices. An unmanageable volume of information increasingly difficult to process and, therefore, to understand.

Sergio will show us some successful cases and some of the projects he leads, and he will reveal how they approach their relationship with customers and users, both key to the success of their projects.

Sergio is co-founder and Chief Design Officer at Vizzuality. He has worked with different agencies of the United Nations, the White House and organizations such as World Resources Institute, World Bank, NASA or Google. His work focuses on two pillars: information design and user-centered design (HCD) using data visualization and geo-information. He has led projects of great impact such as Global FishingWatch, Trase.Earth or Resilience Atlas. He has nearly 20 years of experience and has worked in various fields such as marketing, advertising, branding, web design and communication.
