Coinciding with the opening of the 8th edition of the Valencia Disseny Week, on September 18, Valencia will pay homage to Pedro Miralles. On Tuesday 18 will be two activities commemorating the 25th anniversary of the death of the pioneer of industrial design in the Spain of the eighties.
First, the celebration of a round table on the occasion of the presentation of a book on the work of Miralles published by the Experimenta Editorial. The publication, written by the Dra. And professor of ELISAVA Pilar Mellado, is based on her own doctoral thesis Pedro Miralles Claver: Analysis and study of its 1984-1993 production.
Mellado says: "It has been five years of work during which I have been able to enjoy the work and experiences of Pedro Miralles thanks to the memories and anecdotes of family and friends. Long talks that have made me wish I could meet him in person. Every time I discovered a piece of him, I admired him the most. His talent, his creativity, his zeal for the culture of design ... The truth is that, although knowing Peter and his work has been a challenge and an important task of research, today I feel this thesis as a vital part of me."
Mellado will be one of the participants in the round table together with the designer Vicent Martínez; the designer and Dr. of the UPV, Javier Pastor; and the moderator, designer and professor of the EASD Xavier Giner.
Pilar Mellado is also the curator of the retrospective exhibition on the production of the Valencian creator, El legado de Pedro Miralles 1983-1993, organized by the Association of Designers of the Comunitat Valenciana (ADCV). The exhibition, a chronological tour of the most representative projects of the designer, can be visited until October 20.
